A new exhibition by the Riihimäki City Museum, Stories from the City, has opened at Riemu Museums, presenting Riihimäki from the Stone Age to the future through photographs, objects and other material. It is a permanent but ever-changing exhibition: the material and objects on display are changed and supplemented from time to time.

The exhibition includes digital material, including 258 photographs, as well as video material, artifacts and other material.

The exhibition presents key and interesting topics regarding the history, present and future of Riihimäki, such as the prehistory of the Riihimäki area, unrealized construction projects such as the amusement park and the city center tunnel, and the city center areas with photographs before and now. In addition, well-known people from Riihimäki are presented with photographs, the history of the railways, reflections on the city of the future, and many themes that are central to the cityscape and everyday life of Riihimäki, from glass factories to sports clubs. The first so-called object of the month has been chosen as prehistoric water nuts found in archaeological excavations in Arolammi, Riihimäki.
The exhibition features previously unexhibited photographs and, among other things, a miniature model of the Riihimäki Garrison Church, which was recently donated and is being exhibited for the first time.

In 2026, the exhibition will be complemented by a whole telling about the districts of Riihimäki, the material for which will be collected with the participation of city residents between 1 February and 30 April 2026.

In addition to this exhibition, the collections of the Riihimäki City Museum can be seen in the museum's changing exhibitions, such as the Flower Power – World of Flowers exhibition currently on display at the museum. In addition, the City Museum's collection of artifacts and the history of the Karelian Antrea parish has its own permanent exhibition at the museum.
