Hyvinkää Sports Services and Riihimäki Sports Center are organizing the PIM Challenge for the 25th time this year, from Saturday 9th to Sunday 24th May.
The purpose of the PIM challenge is to get residents of the municipality to move around the challenge municipality on bicycles, roller skates, roller skis or, for example, by pedaling. It is also possible to participate in the challenge with an electric bicycle.
The challenge route starts in Riihimäki at the Korttionmäki rest area (near the intersection of Arolammintie and Metsurinkatu) and runs along the Arolammintie light traffic route towards Hyvinkää. The turning point for Riihimäki residents is the Golftie rest area in Hyvinkää, which also serves as the starting point for Hyvinkää residents.
In Haastekunta, you fill out a performance/draw ticket and return on bikes without motors. Performance/draw tickets are available from the mailboxes at rest areas or you can fill out an electronic card using the QR code found at the rest area. In Riihimäki, performance cards are available from the swimming pool, the Information Centre, the library or you can print it yourself. Only one attempt per day is accepted. The counting of the cards is done by Kiista-Veikot in Riihimäki. The attempts in the Challenge Competition are added up and the municipality with the most entries wins.
Small-scale bike maintenance will be available on Saturday, May 9th from 9-9.45 am at the Riihimäki starting point, promoted by the Riihimäki and Hyvinkää Association for the Promotion of Cycling. At the starting point, the bike can be checked for condition and light maintenance.
If you want to do your first run in a group, the Association for the Promotion of Cycling in Riihimäki and Hyvinkää is organizing a joint run on Saturday, May 9th at 9:45 am. During the run, you will ride together at a leisurely pace along the PIM route to the Hyvinkää turning point, where you will have a short snack break. You will return to the starting point at approximately 11:40 am. For more information, please visit www.perh.fi/pyorailyviikko.
Velofix will host the first traditional day of spring focusing on bicycle maintenance on Sunday, May 24th.
The main prize will be two €100 gift cards donated by Hyvinkää Intersport, two €100 gift cards donated by Riihimäki Kesport, five gift cards from Velofix (total value €130) and three sports gift cards from Teurastamo Training. The joint sponsor is SveitsiRent, which will donate two gift cards for bike rental to both cities. All of Hyvinkää's bicycle shops have donated prizes to the event. In addition, smaller product prizes will be raffled off among the participants in both cities.
Each participant in the challenge race moves at their own risk. The use of a helmet is highly recommended!
