Park lunches available for children and young people in June

The city will organize a park meal in June 2025 for children and young people under the age of 18 from Riihimäki. The meal will be served at the Library Park in front of the library (Kauppakatu 16). The meal is free of charge. Food will be distributed as long as there is enough.

Lunch is available on weekdays from 2 to 27 June from 11.45 am. to 12.15 pm. There is no meal on Midsummer's Eve, Friday 20 June.

The park dining service will be implemented as a desired item in the city's participatory budgeting. The city will spend 12 euros to implement the dining service.

The last time the park meal was organized was in the summer of 2023, and even then it was a subject of participatory budgeting.

"This year, meals will be held in the Kirjastonpuisto instead of the yard of the Junailijankatu daycare center. So you can easily combine a visit to the library with meals before or after," encourages the city's well-being coordinator, Marjo-Kaisa Konttinen.

Bring your own dishes

Please bring your own cutlery and crockery for meals, as well as a drink, for example in a bottle.

The food is lactose-free. There are no special diets available. Menus can be found on the website. www.riihimaki.fi/puistoruokailu at the end of May.

There are benches in the park where you can eat your food, but you can also bring a blanket and enjoy your food in a picnic style.

A nice accompanying program is also organized for some of the dining days.
