Pride celebrations start in Riihimäki already in May

This year we are celebrating Pride week in Riihimäki from 10 to 16. June. However, the days of Pride are already celebrated in May, when Riihimäki Music College organizes an atmospheric love song evening for the second year in a row.

"The international Idahot day against gay, bi and transphobia is celebrated on Friday, May 17. At the music school, the day is celebrated together by singing accompanied by the teachers' band. Schools and educational institutions have an important role to play in promoting equality and equality in our society, and that's why the music school sings about love!", says Annamaria Hannonen from the Riihimäki music school, the mother of the idea of ​​the love song night.

During the day, middle schools discuss equality and equality under the leadership of a Seta representative.

In June we celebrate Pride week

Planning for the June Pride event started at the beginning of the year. Participants were invited to the first planning meeting of the Pride event at the beginning of March with an open invitation via social media. The palaver was attended by participants rich in ideas, and the entire Pride week took shape based on their thoughts and wishes.

"This human rights and at the same time cultural event is done in the traditional way together with the city, townspeople, associations and various actors. It's been great to notice how many parties have expressed their willingness to be involved in the event," says responsible culture producer Lyti Aaltonen.

Even though the arrangements for the Pride event are well underway, there is still plenty of time to get involved in the planning and implementation. The final program of the week will be published at the end of May. Pride week culminates on Friday, June 14, with a Pride party at Granit Square, accompanied by a traditional procession.
