Peltosaari park complex plan on display

The master plan for the Peltosaari park complex will be on display from 16 to 30 June 2025.

The master plan for the Peltosaari park complex presents the development of the area into a pleasant, functional and communal park that serves users of all ages. The goal is to create a safe and accessible urban park that offers opportunities for both relaxation and active activities. The plan emphasizes greenery, diverse vegetation, sustainable stormwater solutions and highlighting the history of the area.

Citizens of different ages participated

The residents and users of the area were extensively involved in the design work during the autumn of 2024 and the winter of 2025. The children of Peltosaari Daycare Center Saturnus were able to have an impact by drawing pictures of their dream playground, and the children's parliament considered what kind of play equipment would be nice for the area. Ideas for the park were collected at the Peltosaari Recycling Residents' Bridge, a separate workshop was organized for those integrating, and over 300 residents responded to a survey on the city's website. Based on these, the residents' wishes for a safe environment, greenery, play opportunities, and communal places to hang out were emphasized in the development of the park.

The park's theme is space

A memorial to the Vantaanjoki River is planned to run through the park, which will be implemented in various ways, such as a grassy embankment, a stone ash walkway and a stone stream-like stormwater solution. This memorial connects the different parts of the park and acts as part of stormwater management. The park's appearance will be further characterized by a space theme, which is reflected in the playground equipment, furniture and paving in the market areas.

A playground, outdoor gym and square bring people together

The park will feature new play and relaxation areas for users of different ages. A fenced play area will be built for younger children, and space-themed climbing and play equipment will be designed for older children. The park will offer an outdoor gym and basketball court for adults and young people, and a dedicated fitness center has been planned for seniors.
Gathering places that promote community, such as a new square that will expand to the north of Telluskatu at the market square. The squares will be connected by a uniform pavement. The design of the street area will be done in a separate street plan.

In addition to versatile seating areas and a performance stage, the new square is planned to house two sculptures acquired from Jasmin Anoschkin. The park's vegetation will be diversified, and special attention will be paid to open views and pleasant, safe routes, as well as to improving lighting.

The construction schedule for the park renovation will be decided during the budget hearing next autumn. The goal of the preparations is for park construction to begin in 2026.
