Participatory budgeting for 2025 has started in Riihimäki. The collection of residents' ideas to spend the 100 euros has started today, Monday, September 000. Ideas for the development of Riihimäkä's living environment and city can be submitted until November 30.

Participatory budgeting means that the citizens come up with ideas and decide on the use of shared money. All 6th graders and older from Riihmäki can vote in participatory budgeting. Leave your ideas at osallistu.riihimaki.fi.

Suggestions should also be thought about together in school classes, associations and clubs.

Submit your own idea or support the ideas of others

You can view suggestions left by others in the online service osallistu.riihimaki.fi. In order to advance to the evaluation stage, the proposal needs 10 endorsements by November 10 at the latest. So leave your proposal in good time so that other townspeople have time to look and support it.

You can view proposals in the online service without logging in. Making suggestions, supporting and commenting, however, require logging in with a mobile certificate or bank credentials. Students can identify themselves with their own MPASSid ID. Instructions for using the service can be found in the online service. The library staff provides guidance on using the online service. You can also leave your proposal on a paper form in the library, Information Center or Riksula.

"Before submitting your own proposal, you should familiarize yourself with the rules of participatory budgeting in the online service, as all proposals advancing to the vote must comply with Riihimäki's principles of participatory budgeting. If necessary, you can get help from me to evaluate this," says Mira Ahjoniemi, project manager of participatory budgeting.

Ideas submitted to the online service of participatory budgeting can be refined together between the person, group or association who submitted the idea and the city, so adding contact information to the profile of the online service would be helpful.

The proposal phase continues until the beginning of November

The proposal phase ends on November 10. The voting phase for the plans is from 7 to 31. January 2025.

Everyone's voice matters. The city will implement the proposals decided in the vote during 2025.

Based on the survey, we are satisfied with participatory budgeting

During the summer, the townspeople were asked about their experiences and wishes for the development of participatory budgeting. The majority of survey respondents hoped that participatory budgeting would continue in the same way. Based on the answers, the townspeople are currently satisfied with the process.

In the future, for example, annual themes or extending the period of participatory budgeting to two years can be considered.
