The education organizer assigns a school place in the fall of 2024 to students starting the first grade of elementary school. A decision on student enrollment is given In the Wilma student administration system 16.2.2024/2017/3.3.2024. Pupils who have not participated in preschool education organized by the city of Riihimäki will be mailed instructions for creating a Wilma ID for guardians. The admission decision is made for children born in XNUMX and older who are not yet in school. Wilma will send instructions on confirming a school place and secondary school place search. The school place must be confirmed by March XNUMX, XNUMX.

Those accepting students for the first grade elementary schools are Eteläinen, Herajoki, Lasitehdas, Patastenmäki, Peltosaari, Pohjoinen and Uramo. Applications for music-focused teaching are taken through entrance exams in weeks 2 and 3. Applications for music classes have been announced on the city's website and in Wilma.

The secondary school place search will take place from 16.2 February to 3.3.2024 March 25.3.2024. Decisions on secondary student enrollment will be notified in the Wilma student administration system on March XNUMX, XNUMX.

Afternoon activity

In elementary schools, paid afternoon activities are organized immediately after school hours, alternatively until 16 or 17 p.m. Applying for afternoon activities in the eDaisy transaction service and the search is continuous. However, for the operating period starting in August 2024, the application must be submitted no later than May 5.5.2024, XNUMX. Afternoon activity location decisions will be sent to guardians during May.

Pre-school education and early childhood education supplementing pre-school education

According to the Basic Education Act, a year before compulsory schooling begins, the child must participate in pre-school education or other activities that meet the goals of pre-school education. The guardian is responsible for participation. All children born in 2018 will be assigned a pre-school place and the decision on the pre-school place will be sent to the residential address. The decision is accompanied by instructions on confirming the place. The place must be confirmed by March 3.3.2024, XNUMX. The secondary pre-school education place search takes place from 16.2 February to 3.3.2024 March 25.3.2024. Decisions on the secondary preschool education place will be sent on XNUMX March XNUMX.

Early childhood education supplementing preschool education

In addition to preschool education, children have the opportunity to receive supplementary early childhood education, which is organized at the preschool. Early childhood education is for a fee and is also organized during the holidays of basic education. Application for early childhood education

Early childhood education positions for the operating period starting on August 1.8.2024, 31.3.2024 can be applied for by March XNUMX, XNUMX. The application is made in the eDaisy transaction service. There is a link to the transaction service from the city's website.

It is hoped that families whose children do not have a regular need for full-time early childhood education will primarily apply for open early childhood education. The Junailijakankatu kindergarten has club activities for children aged 3–5. Clubs are paid. The Junailijankatu daycare also operates a free open daycare.

Early childhood education places and club places can be applied for throughout the year as needed. You must apply for a place four months before the desired start time. If early childhood education is needed due to the parents' employment, studies or training, it must be applied for no later than two weeks before the child needs an early childhood education place.

New applicants must submit a separate statement about the possible need for early special education.
