The long-awaited sign of summer is the start of Senioripuistoilu, which gathers in the city's green areas. The park season starts again on Monday, May 20 and continues throughout the summer until August 16. As in previous summers, there will be relaxed togetherness, nice things to do together, and coffee and buns.

The goal of Senioripuistoilu is to support the inclusion and social interaction of the elderly and to promote well-being and community. The activity is open to everyone and free of charge.

"Parking places and the weekly program will remain the same as last summer. We look forward to meeting old and new parkgoers alike. The best thing about senior park fun is the encounters and the moments spent together," says Mari Lanu, director of the open senior activities of the city of Riihimäki.

Park guardians offer help with escorting

For part of the house, it can be difficult to get going without the support of another person. Volunteer park sponsors act as escorts so that as many people as possible can participate in Senioripuistoilu.

"If you need support to participate or know someone who would need escort help, please contact us. Those who are interested in acting as a park sponsor can also sign up," encourages Reija Lumivuokko, director of voluntary work in the city of Riihimäki.

Opening and closing events at Granit Square

In addition to the traditional Senior Park Fun, the opening and closing events of the park fun season will be organized at Granit Square on May 22 and August 14 from 16 to 18 p.m.

"At Granit's events, there is a promise of relaxed togetherness, like park walks, as well as, for example, singing together and getting to know the activities of the associations," says Maria Harvio, operations director of the Kotokartano Foundation.

The senior park is organized in cooperation with the open welfare services of the city of Riihimäki and Kotokartano Foundation.
