The City of Riihimäki is currently implementing the Museinno project. In the project, the city and its partners are exploring new ways to enable museum activities and new forms of cooperation in the station area in the area of Veturitalli, Voimala and the future campus of Häme University of Applied Sciences. The project is a preliminary preparation project for the development of the Riihimäki station area.
One part of the Museinno project is to investigate the use and renewal of the old real estate stock in the station area. The project examines bringing together the museum, education, research and commercial services in the station area.
The project has so far interviewed stakeholders and studied international benchmarks. The next phase of the project will explore the potential of a museum cluster in the Riihimäki station area. The project will be completed in June 2026.
The project is implemented by the City of Riihimäki in cooperation with the Museum of Technology, the Finnish Hunting Museum, Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Riihimäen Tilat ja Kehitys Oy. The project has been granted funding from the Häme Regional Council for Supporting Sustainable Growth and Vitality (AKKE). The project is implemented by the design agency Pentagon Design with its subcontractors.
