Monologue Helene Schjerfbeck – About the love of painting on Finnish Fine Arts Day, July 10th at Riemu Museums

Friday, July 10, 2026, will once again be the day of Finnish Fine Arts and the birthday of painter Helene Schjerfbeck. This year, the celebration of Finnish Fine Arts Day will expand into a weekend-long event in Kanta-Häme. Workshops, artist meetings, guided tours, performances and exhibitions will be offered in various parts of the province from July 10 to 12, 2026. The Kanta-Häme Finnish Fine Arts Day program is coordinated by the Hämeenlinna Art Museum.

Riemu Museums (Temppelikatu 8, RIIHIMÄKI) will participate in the celebration by offering the public free admission to all its exhibitions on Friday, July 10, from 11 am to 17 pm.

The day's program also includes a monologue performance, Helene Schjerfbeck – From Love to Painting, which will be performed at 14 p.m. Marika Sampio-Utriainen is responsible for the script and the role of Helene Schjerfbeck. The performance lasts approximately 40 minutes, and admission is free.

In honor of Finnish Fine Arts Day, the public can also explore the exhibition space dedicated to Helene Schjerfbeck, which displays Schjerfbeck's works from the Tatjana and Pentti Wähäjärvi collection of the Riihimäki Art Museum with changing hangings and themes. The exhibition, which opened in May 2026, examines the works under the theme Silence.
