The change to the Eteläinen Asemakatu 2, Travel Center town plan, which enables the relocation and development of the Häme University of Applied Sciences campus, is the most important single planning project in Riihimäki's zoning in 2026.
Residents are welcome to hear and discuss the draft local plan and related plans and reports on Thursday, March 5, 2026, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Antoni's house in Antoni's hall (Öllerinkatu 3, left-hand entrance).
The draft plan designates the current Travel Center site as a block area for business premises and educational buildings. The draft plan provides for a building right of 21,400 square meters. Additional construction will be targeted particularly along Eteläinen Asemakatu in 3–4-story blocks and between the current office tower and the train tracks in a 7-story extension.
HAMK's new facilities will be built utilizing the existing Travel Center building, so that in the first phase, the additional construction required by the campus will be located along Eteläinen Asemakatu, a single-story building. The change to the local plan looks far into the future, preparing for even more extensive additional construction.
The draft plan will be available on the Riihimäki City website from 23 February to 24 March 2026.
The draft plan is also available for viewing at the Veturi Office Centre at Eteläinen Asemakatu 4 (3rd floor).
If you wish, you can give your opinion on the draft plan during the viewing period to the postal address Riihimäki City, Planning, P.O. Box 125, 11101 Riihimäki or by email. kirjaamo@riihimaki.fi.
