The Urban Engineering will begin the renovation of Marjapuisto (also known as Marjatanpuisto), located in the Lemmenmäki area of the Kirjaus district, on Monday, July 28, 2025. The renovation will cover both the playground's surroundings and playground equipment.

Residents’ wishes are taken into account in the renovation

As part of the renovation, the playground equipment and surface materials will be renewed. The design and construction will follow the themes of sustainable environmental construction(KESY). The aim of the renovation is to increase the amenity of the area and improve the park's usability as a learning environment.

The theme of the playground's furniture's colors, shapes, and images has been chosen to be "Finnish natural berries." The furniture selection took into account the responses to a participation survey organized in late 2024. Based on the responses to the survey, the Berry Park's activities will be aimed primarily at children aged 3–6.

The playground will be divided into three sections. The first section contains swings and toddler seats. The second section includes functional play equipment, such as a climbing frame and a bowl carousel. The furniture in the third section inspires imaginative and group play.

As part of the renovation, additional vegetation will be planted in Marjapuisto to make the park more sheltered and pleasant.

Marjapuisto playground was established in 1988, and was last renovated on a small scale in 2009. The park is located in a residential area, between Marjastajanpolku and Neidonkuja.
