National defense can be seen and heard at Erämessi

The International Field Fair is realized as a new fair content by the MaanpuolustusAreena in cooperation with the Define project of the city of Riihimäki. The National Defense Arena will be held at Erämessi on Friday, June 7, from 13:15 to XNUMX:XNUMX.
"At the National Defense Arena, NATO cooperation and its opportunities for Finland, national defense innovations and new technology, and cyber security will be brought up for discussion," fair director Ninni Manninen lists.
The National Defense Arena culminates in a panel discussion
Riihimäki Mayor Jouni Eho will open the day of the MaanpuolustusAreena held for the first time. In his speech, he explains why Riihimäki focuses on speeding up innovations in the defense and security sector and what the region's defense and security sector operators have to offer to Finland, the world and NATO.
During the day, two keynote speeches will be heard at Areena. In his speech, the Defense Forces' new chief of strategy, Major General Sami Nurmi, discusses what Finland has to offer NATO in terms of military and defense policy, as well as what new technological capabilities NATO will gain with Finland.
In the second keynote speech, the economic and technological cold war between China and the USA is examined: who gets strategically important raw materials and components and who gets the latest technology. Risto EJ Penttilä, CEO of the consulting agency Nordic West Office, speaks about the topic.
The National Defense Arena culminates in a panel discussion in the Program Arena, where cyber security professor and MP Jarno Limnéll, Major General Sami Nurmi and Patria's CEO Esa Rautalinko are discussing Finland's future threats and preparedness.
Between speeches, the conscript band of the Defense Forces is responsible for the atmosphere, which will be heard twice during the MaanpuolustusAreena.
The Define project creates an innovation network in the defense industry
The National Defense Arena is connected to the city of Riihimäki for the Define project. The purpose of the project is to create a national defense industry innovation network. Define comes from the words Defense Finland Innovation Network.
Riihimäki already has a defense industry, and an even stronger defense business is being built in the city. The defense industry already employs more than 1000 people in the area: several special units of the Defense Forces and the companies Sako and Millog operate in the area.
After the public event, the MaanpuolustusAreena will continue with an invited guest seminar and one organized by the FiBAN organization Pitch Finland at the DefSec event.
