Tourism in the province will be organized according to a new model
The municipalities of Kanta-Häme and the Federation of Häme have signed an agreement on tourism cooperation. With the new agreement, the continuity of tourism cooperation is guaranteed regardless of project and organization. The goal of the agreement is to find and establish an operational model for Kanta-Häme provincial tourism cooperation that is independent of individual organizations and project activities, which will ensure, for example, the continuity of the previously successfully implemented Lakeland cooperation.
The cooperation agreement covers the entire province and includes the city of Forssa, the municipality of Hattula, the municipality of Hausjärvi, the municipality of Humppila, the city of Hämeenlinna, the municipality of Janakkala, the municipality of Jokioinen, the municipality of Lope, the city of Riihimäki, the municipality of Tammela and the municipality of Ypäjä.
Häme's association is involved in the agreement and supports regional municipalities as a project financier, trustee and, on a case-by-case basis, as a strategic operator.
The cooperation agreement has been concluded initially for two years, after which it becomes valid indefinitely.
In the past, tourism cooperation has mainly been carried out under the leadership of HAMK through project activities. With the agreement, the main responsibility for, among other things, Lakeland coordination and related measures, such as the Visit Häme tourism package, is transferred from the Western Lakeland Kanta-Häme project to the responsibility of the regional governments.
In the future, tourism cooperation on a practical level will be operated by the tourism coordinators appointed by the regions:
