Riemu Museums celebrate Finnish Fine Arts Day on July 10

Finnish Fine Arts Day is celebrated nationwide on Thursday, July 10. To celebrate the day, Riihimäki and the Kanta-Häme region will host a variety of events related to visual arts. Most of the events are free of charge and suitable for all ages. The program includes workshops, guided tours, painting sessions, artist meetings, and exhibitions.

Free lecture and museum admission on the celebration day

On the day of the celebration, Riemu Museums will organize a lecture at 15 p.m. “Connections between visual arts and music – Painter Helene Schjerfbeck and composer Erkki Melartin.” The lecturer will be art history researcher, PhD Mari Tossavainen. Participation in the lecture is free of charge.

In addition, admission to all Riemu Museum exhibitions is free throughout the day from 11 am to 17 pm.

Finnish Fine Arts Day is celebrated annually on July 10th in honour of the birthday of painter Helene Schjerfbeck. The initiative to celebrate the day was taken by the Finnish Watercolor Art Association.The initiative for this celebration came from the Finnish Watercolour Art Association. The aim of the day is to highlight and promote the significance and appreciation of fine arts as part of Finnish cultural life.
