The third meeting of the Riihimäki City Children's Parliament of the academic year will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Monari Youth Center.

Three different action points are being prepared for the Children's Parliament members for the gathering, where they will be asked for their views and ideas on topics that are central to the city. At the first action point, the children will be introduced to the work of updating the city's basic education service network. The Children's Parliament will consider which issues related to the service network, especially schools, are most relevant to children.

At the second activity point, children can discuss the city's values ​​and influence the updating of the city strategy. The values ​​recorded in the Riihimäki city strategy are fair, brave and swift - what do they mean and how are these values ​​reflected in children's everyday lives?

The third action point will develop the content of the Children's Ö project, which was selected for implementation in participatory budgeting. The members of the Children's Parliament will be able to brainstorm what kind of events they would like to see at Ö House. The implementation of the Children's Ö project will include two children's events open to everyone at Ö House this year.

Child-friendly municipality activities

The Children's Parliament has a total of 28 members, four students from each primary school in Riihimäki. Members are elected from the schools annually. The Children's Parliament usually meets three times during the school year.

The fourth term and membership of the Children's Parliament is now underway in Riihimäki. This meeting is the last meeting of the fourth membership. A new membership will start in the autumn.

The Children's Parliament is part of the Riihimäki Child-Friendly Municipality initiative. The aim of the Children's Parliament's activities is to increase the participation and influence of children in Riihimäki in matters concerning children.
