Children's Rights Week will be celebrated from 17 to 23 November 2025. The city of Riihimäki will organize several events for children and the whole family during the week. Early childhood education and schools will discuss the week's national theme, The Child's Right to Belong. The theme emphasizes the child's right to belong to communities and, on the other hand, to be heard.

"Children's Rights Week reminds us that every child and young person deserves to be heard and met as themselves. When a child is allowed to participate and their opinions are taken into account, it strengthens their well-being and creates security in everyday life," says Hannele Saari, chair of the city's Child-Friendly Municipality coordination group.

The aim of Child Rights Week is to promote awareness of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to spark discussion about the realization of children's rights.

Each early childhood education unit organizes an event during the theme week, where the voices of the children in the unit are heard from a planning and participation perspective. A post about the week's theme is published on the Riihimäki early childhood education Instagram account every day during the week.
