The city is commissioning asphalting work on streets under city management within the limits of the budget. Planning for the resurfacing sites has begun and the contractor will carry out the work during the summer and autumn of 2026. Any work near schools will be carried out during the school summer holidays.

“This year, 400,000 euros are available for resurfacing streets. The majority of the allocation will be used for resurfacing roadways. Prioritization of sites is mainly influenced by traffic volumes and condition class. However, in Riihimäki, we invest in accessibility and sustainable modes of transportation, so light traffic routes will also be renewed. Involving residents is important to us and we want to take into account the opinions of those who use the routes daily,” says Laura Piitulainen, Head of Streets and Vehicles.

Submit your suggestion for a light traffic route that needs to be resurfaced using the map-based form by April 19th. It will take approximately 5–10 minutes to complete the survey.
