The Block Gigs, implemented by the City of Riihimäki's cultural and event services, will continue in the summer of 2026. The concept, which has proven popular, was piloted last year. The Block Gigs brought musical experiences to the everyday lives of city residents, right where they live.

The content of the summer Block Concerts is planned to serve as diversely as possible different target groups and musical tastes. The performers are mainly local music professionals and enthusiasts. The event also offers visibility and opportunities for regional expertise.

We are once again looking for great performances to brighten the lives of city residents. The application period for artists is 1–28 February 2026. Once again, we invite a wide range of musical talents: bands, dance orchestras, choirs, troubadours, brass bands or other ensembles, and all musical styles are welcome.

“The first summer went wonderfully, as the audience embraced the Korttelikeikat gigs by coming to the gigs in large numbers. Now the Korttelikeikat gigs are getting a well-deserved continuation, and hopefully this summer too we will have music-filled summer evenings together – so expectations are high,” says cultural producer Minttu Seppo.

Ilmianna Riihimäki's best gig venue

Eight Block Concerts will be held in different districts of Riihimäki between June and August. Residents can now vote for the best concert venues in the city. Voting for the concert venues has opened and is open until February 28, 2026. Go to the form to suggest a gig venue (survey.zef.fi).

Block gigs can take place anywhere in Riihimäki. The performance venue can be, for example, a store parking lot, a children's playground or the courtyard of an apartment building. By literally bringing music to the backyard of city residents, the cityscape is enlivened and the goals of the City of Riihimäki's cultural well-being plan are promoted.

Further information on applying for performances and registering for gigs can be found on the city's cultural and event services website at www.riihimaki.fi/korttelikeikat.
