Experience Riihimäki's eventful summer
Riihimäki offers a rich range of events in the summer, including many free events. A real cultural superweek starts in the first week of June, offering experiences in glass art, music and summer theatre.
The history of Finnish glass and glassblowing demonstrations at international glass festivals
The first-ever international glass festival, the Finnish Glass Biennale, is a diverse event for lovers of glass art and cultural tourism. Glass will be celebrated at the Riihimäki Old Glass Factory from Thursday to Sunday, June 5–8, 2025. However, the advance program will start on Monday, June 2.
The event consists of various exhibitions, glassblowing demonstrations, workshops, and daily changing program items, many of which are free of charge. The main exhibition, featuring works by several glass artists, is open from 11 am to 18 pm.
A short walk from the Old Glass Factory, the Finnish Glass Museum also has two exhibitions: Magical Tamara and Jasmin Anoschkin – Candy Animals. The museum also organizes story-based research tours for children into the world of glass birds, bambis and unicorns on Tuesday, June 3.
In addition, on Sunday, June 8th, from 10 am to 15 pm, the Glass Day collection event will be held in the courtyard of the Finnish Glass Museum, where Finland's best selection of consumer glass, art glass and collector's glass will be for sale.
However, the magic of glass doesn't end there, as Riihimäki is a glass city all year round! You can head to the glass studio stores for shopping and visit the Finnish Glass Museum on other summer days as well.
