Summer brings changes to Riihimäki's public transport

The summer schedules and routes for Riihimäki public transport have been published. They will come into effect after school ends on 1 June 2026. In the summer, R-transport will operate lines 1, 2 and 10, service lines 11 and 12, and the on-demand R-kiyti service.

Regional traffic operates between Loppi and Riihimäki in the summer. Regional traffic can also be used for journeys within Riihimäki. All R-trafic ticket products are valid for travel within Riihimäki.

The final stop of regional lines in Riihimäki will change from the travel center to the stop Rautatieasema E (Paloheimonkatu).

Summer brings several changes to routes and schedules.

Line 1 In summer, unlike in winter, the bus will go to the hospital via Kalevankatu and will stop at Lemmenmäki. In addition, the bus route via Väinö Sinisalo street and Hj. Elomaan street will be removed from the route of line 1. Instead, the bus will use Siltakatu and Eteläinä Asemakatu as its route. Line 1 will run later on weekdays, until 6:45 p.m.

Line 2 There will also be several smaller changes to the route. The route of the line will no longer stop at the garrison. As a result, a new stop will be added to Pöyrynkatu near the Talteentie intersection. Line 2 will also not run along Valtakatu due to the construction site. Line 2 will also run via Ilomäentie and Peuranpolku. The line will run in the courtyard of the Finnish Glass Museum in the summer as a novelty. This change will also affect traffic in the coming winter season. The line will run on Ilomäentie in both directions, meaning it will not run on Sipusaarentie.

To service line 11 Wednesday will be added as a new operating day, meaning service line 11 will now operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Service line 12 The route will change so that it will run via Siltakatu instead of Väinö Sinisalo Street and Hj. Elomaan Street. The city center area will also be removed from the route of service line 12. However, you can still get there by asking the driver if there is time in the car's schedule for the visit.

Printed timetables are available, among other things:

• On R-buses
• at the train station
• The city's customer service point at Tietotupa (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2, street level)
• at the library (Kauppakatu 16) and
• at the hospital (Kontiontie 77).

R-rides will now be ordered from stop to stop.

The way R-Kyyti is ordered will change so that in the future all orders will be made from stop to stop. This is to ensure that the R-Kyyti car always finds the customer who placed the order.

With the change, many new virtual stops have been added to R-kyyti, i.e. stops that are not marked with a physical stop sign. All stops used by R-kyyti can be seen on the R-kyyti stop map at www.riihimaki.fi/r-kyyti.

New virtual stops can be added at the request of customers to places where R-kyyti cars are permitted, smooth and safe to drive. Suggestions for new stop locations can be sent to the feedback service at palaute.riihimaki.fi.

New summer line for beaches

Line 6, which starts as a new summer line, will run to the Hirvijärvi and Paalijärvi beaches from June 22. The summer line will stop operating on July 31. The second terminal stop of the line is Pohjankorpi and it also runs in Kumpula. In the direction of Hirvijärvi, the line departs from stop A at the railway station.

The schedule for line 6 is designed so that it is possible to transfer to it from line 1 from the hospital direction and from line 2 from the Tienhaara direction. Transfers are also possible on the return journey.

PayiQ Tickets app is being discontinued

Riihimäki will only use Matkahuolto's Matkat application in the future. Riihimäki mobile ticket sales in the PayiQ Tickets application will end on June 1, 2026. With this, the best price ticket and day ticket, as well as payment via phone bill, will also be discontinued.

Tickets in the app can be used up within their validity period.

Series tickets will have the right to be exchanged

There will be a change to multiple tickets purchased with the Matkat app, which means that multiple tickets include the right to exchange. A single multiple ticket journey is valid for 60 minutes from the time the QR code is stamped. You can make multiple journeys with the same multiple ticket journey if less than 60 minutes have passed since the previous stamping of the multiple ticket.

Contrary to the information in the timetable publication, multiple tickets purchased with the Matkat app can be used to pay for multiple trips at once. In this case, the ticket will also be used for multiple trips.
