The Riihimäki City Sports Centre has been awarded a grant from the Finland on the Move programme for sports advice for 2025. With the More Exercise for Families! -project, the city's sports advice will now be extended to families with children under school age.
Family exercise counseling focuses on the everyday life of the entire family and considers how the family's well-being could be increased. The project is coordinated by the city's exercise instructor Aaro Kilpinen.
It is important for children under school age to try a variety of physical activities, and physical activity should be a natural part of everyday life. Together with the counselor, various solutions are considered to increase physical activity that motivates the whole family. The counseling also relies heavily on outdoor exercise and spending time in nature. Families are encouraged to get moving and are offered various ways to promote well-being.
"This is a great addition to the city's already extensive range of physical education advice. In Riihimäki, middle school students and adults have already had access to free physical education advice," says Aaro Kilpinen.

Physical education advice is offered to upper secondary school students within the framework of the Exercise for Upper Secondary School project. Physical education and well-being advice is available for 16–29-year-olds. In addition, applied physical education advice is arranged. The most popular is physical education and well-being advice aimed at working-age people. There is no upper age limit for physical education advice.
Physical activity advice is a low-threshold service. The city's sports centre uses the health exercise recommendations prepared by the UKK Institute as a basis. The aim is to provide help in starting an active lifestyle. The advice is free of charge for everyone.
