The city of Riihimäki will gradually centralize staff facilities in Matkakeskus from summer 2025. The city government approved the project plan for the space solution and started the implementation planning in its meeting held in connection with the budget seminar on 10-11. October 2024.

At Matkakeskus (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2), the city's services will form a more compact entity than at present. The customer service facilities are located on the first floor of the building, and the staff's working facilities are located on the top three floors.

Under one roof, the services are accessible and barrier-free for city residents and improve the cooperation of the personnel and make the operation of the administration more efficient as a whole. About 140 city employees will work in the travel center in the future. In total, the city has approximately 1100 employees.

Currently, the personnel within the scope of the city's reform is divided into two buildings: Matkakeskus and the adjacent office center Veturi. The space solution reduces the need for personnel spaces by approximately 840 square meters from the current one and is EUR 80 cheaper than the current two-building model.
