The City of Riihimäki made purchases worth approximately 2024 million euros in 57. Procurement supports sustainable development

Approximately 30 percent of the procurements took into account environmental criteria, such as energy efficiency requirements and the use of recycled materials. The city also added conditions to the procurement contracts that require a fair labor policy and respect for workers' rights.

In addition to vitality, we will place greater emphasis on sustainable development and responsibility in procurement," says Pitkämäki.

As one way to develop the responsibility of procurement, the City of Riihimäki has joined the Vauhti network organized by Motiva Oy at the beginning of 2025. The network is an association of organizations that carry out public procurement, which offers its members services to develop the responsibility and effectiveness of procurement. The City of Riihimäki implements procurements in a planned and transparent manner.
