The city of Riihimäki will start sand removal on April 12. The removal of sand will start from the city center and from the main roads and light traffic roads leading to the city center that are maintained by the city. Removing sand prevents street dust. The weather and night frosts of the coming days will affect the progress of the work.

You should still be vigilant on walking and cycling paths, as there are snowmelt waters on the paths, which can freeze during possible night frosts.

The entire sand removal project, including the washing of the streets in the core city, is estimated to be completed by the beginning of June.
