The Riihimäki City Board will discuss, among other things, the mayor's car benefit at its meeting on Monday, December 15. According to the proposed decision, the city board will introduce a car benefit as part of Mayor Jouni Eho's salary in accordance with his director's contract.

According to the proposal, the mayor would be provided with an electric car through a leasing agreement. The purchase of an electric car is justified due to the city's carbon neutrality goal.

The indicative tax value of the vehicle, or the so-called free car benefit, would be approximately one thousand euros per month. According to a preliminary estimate, the car benefit is cost-neutral for the city as an employer. Including the tax value of the vehicle in the current salary and eliminating travel costs would make the car benefit cost-neutral. The introduction of the car benefit will not increase the mayor's salary.

According to the executive agreement confirmed by the City Council in autumn 2022, the mayor's total salary includes a mobile phone benefit and possible other benefits such as a car and housing benefit. The mayor already has a housing benefit. The city acquired a housing share worth 450,000 euros for Eho and his family in 2023.

The administrative court's decision will not be appealed.

The Hämeenlinna Administrative Court has overturned the Riihimäki City Council's decision on the service network in relation to the decisions related to the closure of the Peltosaari School. The Administrative Court states in its decision that the council's decision not to allocate any more premises to the Peltosaari School has in fact meant the closure of the Peltosaari School.

The Mayor proposes that the City Government decide that the decision will not be appealed and that it will take the decision of the Administrative Court into account. The proposal also includes that the City Government send the decision to the City Council for information.

This meeting is the last meeting of the City Council for 2025.
