The city council will discuss the personnel space solution at its meeting on November 20

The city of Riihimäki is planning to centralize the city's personnel facilities at Matkakeskus (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2). City manager Jouni Eho proposes to the Riihimäki city council meeting on Monday, November 20.11.2023, XNUMX, that the city personnel currently working at Matkakeskus and Virastokeskus Vetur should be located at Matkakeskus in the future. Eho's proposal includes the initiation of project planning for the facilities.

According to a preliminary estimate, flexible and modern working spaces could be put into use during the years 2024 and 2025. The customer service facilities would be located on the first floor of the Travel Center and the staff's working facilities on the top three floors. The proposal would reduce the need for personnel facilities by more than 1300 square meters.

In Matkakeskus, the city's services would form a tighter whole than at present. The services placed under the same roof would be accessible and barrier-free for city residents, and would improve the cooperation of the personnel and make the operation of the administration more efficient as a whole. The proposed solution also meets the wishes of personnel and branch management. The office reform planned now affects approximately 140 city employees. The city has a total of approximately 1100 employees.

The city's spatial planning has identified four different options for the city's personnel working spaces. According to the study, the solution planned for Matkakeskus is the cheapest of the alternatives in terms of rental costs. Other explored alternatives are the so-called the old town hall, the Kalevantalo and the new building.

The survey work on spatial planning is a continuation of the service network decision approved by the city council on August 29.8.2022, 27.2.2023, and the needs survey of the old town hall and Kalevantalo initiated by the city government on February XNUMX, XNUMX. In addition to costs, renovation and modification work, the work has taken into account, among other things, the availability of labor, the accessibility of services and the accessibility of facilities.
