The city government is handling the transfer of personnel to Matkakeskus

The city of Riihimäki is planning to centralize the city's personnel facilities at Matkakeskus (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2). City manager Jouni Eho proposes to the Riihimäki city council, which meets on Monday, September 30, 2024, that it approve the project plan for the space solution for the personnel and start the implementation planning.

The office reform planned now affects approximately 140 city employees. In Matkakeskus, the city's services would form a tighter whole than at present. Placed under the same roof, the services would be accessible and barrier-free for city residents, and would improve the cooperation of the personnel and make the operation of the administration more efficient as a whole.

According to the project plan, the city's customer service facilities would be located on the first floor of the Matkakeskus, and the staff's working facilities would be located on the top three floors. Currently, the personnel within the scope of the city's reform is divided into two buildings: Matkakeskus and the adjacent office center Veturi.

According to the project plan, flexible and modern working spaces could be introduced gradually from the summer of 2025. The commissioning of the facilities is delayed by a little more than half a year from the first estimates due to the consultation of the personnel and the refinement of the plan. The proposed solution meets the wishes of personnel and branch management.

The city has a total of approximately 1100 employees. The proposal would reduce the need for personnel facilities by approximately 840 square meters. Space needs have become more specific as the project planning progresses. The proposed solution would be 80 euros cheaper per year than the current two-building model.
