At its meeting on Monday, September 11, Riihimäki's city council approved, among other things, the reservation agreement between the city and Suomen Asuntomessu, as well as the letter of intent for the campus project of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and Hyria education.

In the decision regarding housing fairs, the city government requires a genuine development partnership and joint development between the city, the fair organization and the network of stakeholders. The city of Riihimäki has negotiated with the Suomen Asuntomessut Cooperative about organizing a housing fair in the Koko and Jokikylä area in the summer of 2027. Organizing a housing fair supports the city's growth goal and highlights the city's housing opportunities.

After the reservation agreement is approved, Suomen Asuntomessut will not negotiate with other cities about the 2027 fair. After signing the booking agreement, the city and the fair organization start planning the fair in more detail, after which it's time to sign the cooperation agreement. The reservation agreement expires if the cooperation agreement has not been signed by June 30.6.2024, XNUMX.

In addition to the housing fair agreement, the board unanimously approved the letter of intent of the city, Häme University of Applied Sciences and Hyria Education, the aim of which is to create a new campus area in Riihimäki Asemanseudu. At the same time, the board authorized minor changes to the agreement to be approved by the mayor.

The new campus of the University of Applied Sciences could be located either in the Matkakeskus area, in existing or new facilities, or north of Veturitallie. Construction of the new premises would take place in 2026–2027. At the same time, Hyria would buy the current properties of the university of applied sciences in Riihimäki. Hyria's purpose is to move part of its Sakonkatu operations to the property vacated by the University of Applied Sciences.

The letter of intent is not binding in nature. The final commitment takes place in connection with the approval of the project plan no later than 31.12.2026 December XNUMX.
