The city council approved the staff space solution and the transfer of the responsibility for organizing batch fairs

At the meeting on Monday 20.11.2023, the Riihimäki City Council discussed, among other things, the space solution for the city's personnel, the transfer of the International Wild Fair to the responsibility of organizing the Finland Fair, and the statement to be issued on the service network survey of the Kanta-Häme welfare area. The city council approved the proposals regarding these three issues with a few changes.
The city government approved the needs assessment regarding the space solution for the personnel and started the project planning for the spaces. As a result of the decision, the facilities of the city personnel currently working in Matkakeskus and Virastokeskus Veturi will be centralized in Matkakeskus in the future.
The city council's decision is conditional until the city council has approved the changes to the service network decision. The board will propose to the council to review the service network decision, because the needs assessment approved by the board is not in line with the service network decision approved by the council on August 29.8.2022, XNUMX.
According to a preliminary estimate, flexible and modern working spaces could be put into use during the years 2024 and 2025. The customer service facilities would be located on the first floor of the Travel Center and the staff's working facilities on the top three floors. The services placed under the same roof would be accessible and barrier-free for city residents, and would improve the cooperation of the personnel and make the operation of the administration more efficient as a whole. The proposal would reduce the need for personnel premises by more than 1300 square meters from the current one and would be the cheapest in terms of rental costs among the analyzed alternatives.
Permission for RTOY to enter into a trade fair agreement
The City Council decided that Riihimäki Tilat ja Kehitys Oy (RTOY) can enter into a commission agreement for the organization of the International Wild Fair with Suomen Messuje. The decision means that the responsibility for organizing the fairs, which were the responsibility of the city's economic company, will be transferred to Suomen Messuje's subsidiary Expomark Oy after next summer's fairs.
With the agreement, the rights and brand of Erämessu will remain with RTOY. Riihimäki Messut Oy merged with its parent company RTOY at the beginning of 2022.
The city spoke about the service network
The Kanta-Häme welfare area has asked the municipalities for a statement on their service network survey. In its statement, the city government draws attention to, among other things, the availability, accessibility and predictability of services, as well as contracts concerning real estate.
According to the government, the welfare area must evaluate the use of properties from the city's point of view and take into account the city's interest in the properties it rents. In its statement, the city government reminds that the citizens of the municipality must receive services according to their needs within the defined time limits. In addition to availability, services must be accessible and changes to the service network predictable.
In addition, the city government states that the city and especially the Robotics Campus want to be active partners in the development of digital services in the welfare area. The City Hall sees that the possible campus transfer of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) to Asemanseudu supports the development of digital services and expertise in the welfare area.
