With the Roikka award, the city recognizes its work community every year, which has exemplary developed its work and doing things together. At the same awards ceremony, the city also awards the Manager of the Year and the Employees of the Year.

"The awards ceremony is one of the highlights of the working year for me. It is great to give recognition to those units and individuals who have developed their work over the long term. We have top talent at work, and at the award ceremony, only the tip of the iceberg will emerge," says personnel development manager Päivi Ojanen.

The award ceremony was held at Riihimäki Teatterihotelli on December 16, 2024. The Roikka award was awarded this year to the cultural and event services unit belonging to the energy sector.

The basis for the Roikka award for cultural and event services states that cultural and event services has courageously developed the visibility and transparency of its services and increased the municipal residents' experience of Riihimäki as a vibrant hometown. Development work has been done together within the team and with the city organization and the municipal residents. Cultural and event services support Riihimäki's strategic goal as an irresistible city.

Roikka honorable mention for youth services

At the award ceremony, an honorable mention was given to another work community, youth services.

In the justifications for the honorable mention, it is stated that youth services, which belong to the field of education and well-being, work meritoriously as educators and guides of future workers with the goal of building a fairer and safer Riksu. The team has developed its own work and the basic tasks of youth work in many ways over the past year to respond to the changed service needs brought about by, among other things, increased immigration. The courage and agility of the work community to try different things is strong. The work unit has a strong cooperative atmosphere and they widely involve different cooperation parties in the development work.

Youth services manager Marko Laitinen also presented the Pre-person of the Year 2024 award at the event.

Employees of the year were awarded at the celebration:

  • process engineer Taru Hedman (Riihimäki Vesi)
  • special youth worker Kaisa Nurminen
