The city's personnel will be centralized in Matkakeskus - the council voted on the matter

The Riihimäki city council decided at its meeting on Monday, December 11, that the services of the city's administration and group domain, as well as the services located in Virastotalo Vetur, will be centralized in Matkakeskus in the future. At the same time, the council updated the service network decision it made on August 29.8.2022, XNUMX, regarding the space solution for the personnel.

The council's decision came after two votes. First, the council voted to return the proposal back to preparation. The presentation was made by Terhi Vesala (movement), supported by Eija-Liisa Dahlberg (organization). The council rejected the restoration proposal by 34–8 votes (1 abstention).

After this, the council voted on Kari Vilkman's (sd.) motion, according to which the city's personnel would be located at Kalevantalo and the so-called to the old town hall. Vilkman's presentation was supported by Maarit Lindberg (sd.). The council rejected the motion with 36–6 votes (1 abstention).

According to a preliminary estimate, the city's personnel could adopt flexible and modern working spaces during the years 2024 and 2025. The customer service facilities would be located on the first floor of the Travel Center and the staff's working facilities on the top three floors.

The services located under the same roof are accessible and barrier-free for city residents and improve the cooperation of the personnel and make the administration more efficient as a whole. The change will reduce the need for personnel facilities by more than 1300 square meters.

The decision approved by the council corresponds to the wishes of personnel and branch management. The office renovation affects approximately 140 city employees. The city has a total of approximately 1100 employees.
