The Kantakatu playground in the Juppala district is being renovated. The playground will be moved to the front of the park to replace the little-used playground, and the playground equipment will be renewed.

In the resident survey carried out in the fall of 2023, it was especially hoped that the playground would have play equipment that enables climbing and hanging. In addition, additional lighting, fences delimiting the area and a bike rack were requested.

After the renovation, the cable slide will offer speed games. Otherwise, the cultural history of the area and the era of zoning have been taken into account in the selection of equipment and plantings in the park. The Kantakatu playground is located in the provincially significant cultural environment of Petsamo and Juppala small house areas. The Juppala area was zoned in 1947 to meet the demand for detached house plots during the reconstruction period.

The park plan has been made in the urban environment planning service area, and the renovation of the Kantakatu playground is part of the implementation of this year's municipal engineering investment program.

To the park plan you can find out on the city's Parks and outdoor sports websites.

Announcement can be viewed on the city's website from April 15 until May 1, 2024.
