The renovation of the Kantakatu playground begins

Urban technology will start the renovation of the Kantakatu playground in Juppala this week. The playground will be moved to the front of the park to replace the little-used playground, and the playground equipment will be renewed.

In the first phase, the park's old equipment will be removed and the park will be closed. The actual construction is planned to start in October 2024 at the latest.

In the resident survey conducted in the fall of 2023, the playground was especially requested to have play equipment that enables climbing and hanging. In addition, we wanted additional lighting, fences delimiting the area and a bike rack. After the renovation, the cable slide to be built in the park will offer speed games. Otherwise, the cultural history of the area and the era of zoning have been taken into account in the selection of equipment and plantings in the park.

The Kantakatu playground is located in the provincially significant cultural environment of Petsamo and Juppala small house areas. The Juppala area was zoned in 1947 to meet the demand for detached house plots during the reconstruction period.

The renovated park will be completed at the end of autumn. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the construction work.
