A traditional memorial service will be held at the Riihimäki Heroes' Grave on Memorial Day on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 12 noon. The event is open to all residents. Participants may wear medals if they wish.

The event program includes music, wreath-laying and speeches. The choir will be performed by the Riihimäen Mieslaulajat. The speech will be given by the vicar Sirpa Viherä from the Riihimäki parish. The event is organized jointly by the City of Riihimäki, the Riihimäki parish and the Hattula-Riihimäki garrison, as well as local veterans and national defense organizations.

Remembrance Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of May in honor of those who died in all wars or other combat-related tasks affecting Finnish territory and Finns. Remembrance Day has been celebrated since 1940 according to the daily order issued by Marshal Mannerheim. Remembrance Day has been an established flag-raising day since 1977.
