Christmas memo: exceptions in city services during Christmas and Epiphany

There are exceptions to the opening hours of public transport and services in the city of Riihimäki during Christmas and Epiphany. You can find a summary of the exceptions in the memo below.

R-traffic

During the school Christmas holidays from December 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026, only lines 1, 2, 4 and 10–12 and the R bus will operate.

On Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025, Saturday service will be operated with line 1 ending its service to the railway station at 1:15 p.m. R-kiyti will operate until 11 p.m., except for a break from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

On Christmas Day, December 25, there will be only the R-ride, which will operate between 5:00 and 10:00, 10:45 and 17:30, and 18:15 and 23:00.

Sunday services will be available on Boxing Day, December 26, New Year's Day, January 1, 2026, and Epiphany, January 6, so line 1 and the R service will be operating.

Christmas shopping by bus

Riihimäki City Public Transport wishes you a peaceful Christmas and a happy New Year by offering bus lines that run later than usual and free bus rides for Christmas shopping.

Lines 1, 2 and 4 will continue to operate until 9:45 PM on December 22–23 and December 29–31, 2025.

Lines 1, 2, 4 and 10-12 as well as R-kiyti are free of charge on December 22–23, 2025.

Closed December 22-28, 2025.

Weeks 1 and 2 normally open on weekdays.

The self-service library is available to you before the library is closed from 7 am to 9 am and from 15 pm to 21 pm, when the library is open for a shorter period, and on closed days from 7 am to 21 pm. During self-service hours, you have limited access to the library's downstairs facilities. Log in to the library during self-service hours with your library card and card PIN code.

Kotola (Eteläinen Asemakatu 2)

Kotola is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 15:00. Kotola will be exceptionally closed from 24 December 2025 to 6 January 2026. During this time, you can contact the Riihimäki office of the South Häme Employment Services, Temppelikatu 2, Riihimäki.

Sports center

Different opening hours of the swimming pool:

Wibit Stunt Track

The Wibit trick track will be in the pool from December 30, 2025 to January 6, 2026, on tracks 6-8. Use of the trick track is included in the swimming pool entrance fee.

Fighting center and school gymnasiums

The martial arts center and school gyms are in use according to shift reservations, unless a shift cancellation has been announced.

Youth services

Youth facilities will be closed from December 22, 2025 to January 1, 2026.

Monari Youth Center is open to 6th graders to 20-year-olds:

Friday, January 2, 2026, 17–22 p.m.

Saturday, January 3, 2026, 17–22 p.m.

Monday, January 5th, 17–21 p.m.

Closed on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Youth facilities will be open and club activities will continue as normal from January 7, 2026.

During Christmas week and at the turn of the year, the regional Ohjaamo will be open on Mondays in Riihimäki, i.e. Monday, December 22, 2025 and December 29, 2025 (Ohjaamo is closed December 23–26, 2025 and December 30, 2025–January 2, 2026)

Cultural and event services

Cultural Services customer service will be closed for the Christmas holidays from December 24, 2025 to January 6, 2026.

Early childhood education office (Veturi office center, Eteläinen Asemakatu 4)

During the school holidays from December 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026, early childhood education service guidance can be reached on weekdays from 9 a.m. to noon at 0407286435 or by email. early childhood education@riihimaki.fi.

Early childhood education service guidance will be open normally again from January 7, 2026.

The daycare centers open from December 22, 2025 to January 6, 2026 are Uramo Daycare Center, Piikinmäki Daycare Center, and Lasitehdaan School Early Childhood Education Center.

Community college, art school and music college

The Civic Institute and Art School office will be closed from December 19, 2025 to January 4, 2026 and on Epiphany on January 6, 2026.

The Music Institute office will be closed from December 20, 2025 to January 6, 2026.

Environmental health in South Häme

There will be no water and food sample collection in Riihimäki on Tuesdays, December 23 and 30, 2025, and January 6, 2026. Otherwise, there will be no changes to the opening hours of health surveillance and veterinary clinics.

Finnish Glass Museum (Tehtaankatu 23)

The opening hours of the Finnish Glass Museum during weeks 52 and 1 are:

December 22, 2025 closed

December 23, 2025 open 10 am–16 pm.

Closed December 24-26, 2025.

December 27–28, 2025 open 10 am–17 pm.

Riemu museums are open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 17 pm. Exceptions during the Christmas period:

The city depot is open on weekdays as usual at VO Mäkinen katu 2.
