Preliminary assessment of stormwater flood risks available

The municipality is responsible for the planning of stormwater flood risk management in its area, i.e. the municipality makes a preliminary assessment of the flood risks caused by stormwater floods and possibly designates significant stormwater flood risk areas (Flood Risk Management Act 620/2010 and its supplementary decree 659/2010).

The city of Riihimäki has revised the preliminary assessment of stormwater flood risks for the year 2024. According to the Flood Risk Act (620/2010, § 20), the preliminary assessment of flood risks and the designation of significant flood risk areas are revised as necessary every six years. The assessment is based on the assessment of 2018, where it was considered that there was no significant stormwater flood risk and no significant stormwater flood risk sites in the city area. This evaluation has documented the most significant changes that have occurred since 2018. The evaluation deals with changes in the city's land use and stormwater management measures.
