The renovation of the Hirsimäki (Sako) sports field will begin on August 4th.

The renovation work on the Hirsimäki sports field (also known as the Sako field) will begin on Monday, August 4, 2025.

More sports opportunities for juniors

According to the renovation plan, the Hirsimäki field will be drained and the field surfaces will be renewed. A sand artificial turf baseball field will be built in the area, measuring 67 x 30 meters. In addition, an asphalted ice hockey rink and basketball court will be built on the field. A 60-meter running track and a long jump area will also be built in the area. The lighting in the area will be renewed during the renovation.

The goal of the improvement is to make the facilities of the park better, offer juniors the opportunity to play baseball, and reduce the need for maintenance caused by frost. The asphalting of the bottom of the ice hockey rink also makes it possible to play roller hockey in the summer, among other things.
