The street environment plan proposal for the relocation of the Heikki locomotive to the median strip of the Paloheimonkatu street area is on display.

The goal is to build a permanent location for the Heikki locomotive and bring it to the city's residents. The locomotive's transfer has been prepared based on the street manager's decision No. 255/2017 to its previous location on Paloheimonkatu. Since 2020, the locomotive has been sheltered in the Riihimäki locomotive sheds.

For safety reasons, the area around the museum locomotive will be separated from the tracks by a boundary fence. The fence's placement takes into account the views from the adjacent pedestrian crossing. The monument will be protected by a metal canopy, the dimensions and shape of which will be specified later.

The city of Riihimäki purchased the Heikki locomotive as a memorial in 1968 and the locomotive was placed in the Saranpää (Paloheimonkatu) traffic divider in 1970, where it remained for 43 years. The locomotive was moved to the city depot in 2013 for renovation. The Heikki locomotive (Hv1 554) was completed in 1915.

Placing the locomotive in the Riihimäki cityscape is part of the implementation of this year's municipal engineering investment program.

The Paloheimonkatu street environment plan can be viewed on the websites of the City of Riihimäki. On the plans available on the website.

Announcement on the website until January 29, 2025.
