Riihimäki's Activity Model Finland project organizes free activities for elementary school students after the school day at schools and in nearby areas. We offer students a wide range of free hobby activities. In the academic year 2023–2024, around 40 different sports, art and cultural activities were organized through the project.

We are now looking for hobby producers for the next project period, i.e. the academic year 2024–2025. For example, local sports, art and youth clubs, as well as associations and companies can act as producers of hobby activities.

Activities are offered according to the wishes of the students

Organized hobbies are based on the hobby wishes of elementary school students in the city of Riihimäki, as well as hobbies that have already been carried out and proved successful. Hobbies are scheduled for everyday life from 13:17 to XNUMX:XNUMX.

We are looking for hobby producers for the following hobbies: gym, sports club, various ball sports, ice hockey, figure skating, martial arts, climbing, parkour, circus, dance/cheerleading/gymnastics/acrobatics, bowling, nature exercise/hiking, motor sports/moped tuning, food preparation, digital gaming, film, Visual arts , music and theater.

Experience in the sport and guiding children is a prerequisite

We require the producer of the hobby to have know-how and experience in the supervised hobby as well as experience in guiding children and young people in a hobby environment. The instructor must be of legal age. All counselors must present an extract from the criminal record referred to in section 6 subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on investigating the criminal background of those working with children).

The activity must be completely free of charge for participating children and young people. Compensation for coaching hours and possible space and equipment rentals is agreed separately with the service providers, but as a general rule we pay compensation for coaching at 35 euros per hour, including coaching and planning. Material costs such as art materials and foodstuffs are reimbursed in accordance with the written agreement.

Apply by April 12 at the latest

Applications for hobby producers are requested to be submitted to the project coordinator by April 12 at the latest at karoliina.salminen@riihimaki.fi. The message must also include the name of the hobby producer (name of a club, association, company or individual), the contact information of the contact person, the offered hobby/hobbies, and information about the compensation request (hourly price, possible other expenses such as material costs, space and equipment rentals, mileage reimbursements).

Selection decisions at the end of May

By the end of May, we will announce the activities that will take place next school year. The criteria for selection are the instructor's/hobby producer's experience in guiding children's and youth's hobby activities, experience in the supervised hobby, and a description/plan of the hobby activity. A written agreement is made with all hobby producers before the start of operations.

The activity is part of the national model of Hobby Finland, for the implementation of which the Ministry of Education and Culture grants municipalities a state subsidy. The implementation of hobby groups is determined based on the final grant amount. Information about the grant will be received during April 2024.
