The Riihimäki Disability Council is looking for an accessibility act of 2024. Have you encountered a service or activity in Riihimäki where you think accessibility has been implemented particularly well? Please notify the person who implemented it by 31 January 2025.
The act can be a single implementation or an operating model or method in continuous use. The person who commits the accessibility act must be a resident of Riihimäki or an actor, private individual, association, community, group or company operating in Riihimäki who, through their actions or actions, promotes accessibility in the city.
Submit your proposal for Riihimäki's accessibility work by January 31, 2025 with an electronic formThe form asks for a proposal for the Riihimäki Accessibility Act of Recognition award, as well as justification for why the proposer believes the act is worthy of the Accessibility Certificate of Honor.
You can also propose an accessibility act with a paper form in the library and the meeting place at Antoni's house in Riksula.
An accessible act is about taking into account the diversity of people. Barrier-free environments together with accessible services, usable tools and comprehensible information enable the realization of equal inclusion.
"Accessibility is not only about the accessibility of movement, but accessibility also takes into account things related to things like seeing, hearing, understanding and communication," says Marjo-Kaisa Konttinen, contact person of the disability council and welfare coordinator.
"Disability is equality and it enables smooth participation in, for example, work, hobbies, culture and studies," Konttinen continues.
With the selection, the disability council wants to draw attention to accessibility and its implementation and everyone's opportunity to act to promote accessibility in their own sphere of influence. The Council for the Disabled has awarded the certificate of accessibility four times (in the years 2020–2023). In previous years, the accessibility certificate has been awarded to:
