Applying for a right-of-occupancy apartment is changing. With the new Housing Rights Act, from September 1, 2023, the serial number will no longer be requested from the city of Riihimäki, but from the Housing Finance and Development Center (ARA). The change applies to all municipalities in Finland.

What about the old serial number?

The city of Riihimäki will still issue serial numbers during the summer, until August 31.8.2023, 31.12.2023. These serial numbers can be used to apply for a right-of-occupancy apartment in Riihimäki until XNUMX December XNUMX. After that, the shift numbers expire.

A new serial number is requested from the Housing Finance and Development Center

From the first day of September, new serial numbers will be applied for from ARA. With the new serial number, you can apply for a right-of-occupancy apartment in all of the fifty municipalities in Finland that have right-of-occupancy apartments. The number costs around 10 euros and is valid for two years.

From the first day of January 2024, you can only apply for an apartment with an ARA serial number.

The apartment application and information about the serial number are sent to the housing rights association whose apartment you are interested in. The community that owns the apartments makes the resident selections.
