Riihimäki Day on 11 September 2025 will mark the city's anniversary as well as the birthday of the meeting place Riksula. The operations of the open welfare services moved from the Matkakeskus (Travel Centre) to Antoni's house at Öllerinkatu 3 a year ago in the spirit of Riihimäki Day. The meeting place, which focuses on seniors, has had over 8 visits during its first year of operation.

Riksula started its meeting place operations open to everyone four years ago at the Matkakeskus.

Autumn dances in the birthday program

The fourth-year birthday party program includes the much-anticipated autumn dances on September 11th from 12 pm to 15 pm. The dances will be held on the stage of Antoni's house, which has been renovated for the summer. The dance floor will be animated by DJ Vesku, who will play music suitable for couples dancing, including familiar disco hits.

The Military Home's sausage stall, yard games and singing will bring a festive atmosphere to the yard. The city will provide buns and coffee for the partygoers. Birthdays are an outdoor event, so participants should prepare for the weather.

Anton's house is busy in the evenings and on weekends

Antoni's house has become a community space in active use over the year. The building is home to the city's open wellness services, as well as cultural and event services, during the day.

With the Riksula meeting place operation, the doors of Antoni's house are open to city residents every weekday and evening use is brisk. During the first year, approximately 50 evening and weekend users from 5400 different associations and operators have visited the meeting rooms of the open welfare services.

"Working in the shared spaces of Antoni House has emphasized an open mind and working together to ensure the comfort and cleanliness of the shared spaces. Our shared desire to give each other space has been fulfilled, to our delight," says Alma Ylätalo, the supervisor of open well-being services.

The building's atmospheric spaces and inspiring environment have won the hearts of both tenants and event visitors. In the first year of cultural and event services, there were approximately 15 visitors.

Antoni's house as a whole has become a significant meeting place for the entire city, where community, culture and celebrations come together.
