The city is renewed one object at a time

The city of Riihimäki's goal is to increase housing, services and jobs in central locations in the station area and downtown. In addition to that, new housing is planned to supplement the existing urban structure in a thoughtful manner.

From single-family homes and commercial areas to attractive locations

This year, work is underway on the urban planning of the center of Herajoki, which will create the starting points for the construction of individual, distinctive single-family houses that are appropriate for the location and for new business premises along regional road 130.

The zoning of business areas will continue to focus on areas with good transport connections to complement existing workplace areas. The areas targeted for development are particularly the areas around Highway 3, Main Road 54 and Regional Road 130.

Work to develop the station area continues

Construction work on the new residential area and park in Jokikylä has begun in early 2025 with stabilization work (soil reinforcement work) and the construction of a stormwater pumping station. The contract also includes the diversion of the Vantaanjoki River and the construction of the area's streets, water supply and park areas. In previous years, pre-construction work in the Jokikylä area has included, among other things, cable relocation and soil cleaning.

The station area is preparing for the location of the new campus area of Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) on the Matkakeskus Liikerada. The zoning will enable the expansion of the low-lying section. On the east side of the main line, preparations are being made for the zoning of the Kanta-Häme welfare area (OmaHäme) social services center, which is expected to begin in late 2025.

Welcome to hear current news about these and other projects!
