Now vote for the items of participatory budgeting to be implemented

The voting for the participatory budgeting of the city of Riihimäki has started on Monday, January 8.1.2024, 37. 34 proposals advanced to the voting stage. A few of these were combined, so there are XNUMX plans for citizens to vote on.

Voting takes place on the participation platform participate.riihimaki.fi. You can vote until January 31.

"The citizens of the city were once again the most enthusiastic in making presentations about exercise, outdoor activities and things related to parks. There are several of these proposals this year as well," says Mira Ahjoniemi, project manager of participatory budgeting.

The townspeople can vote on which projects the 100 euros of participating budgeting should be distributed. You can vote for one or more items.

In 2023, the allocations of participatory budgeting implemented, among other things, park meals for children, the renovation of Riuta's family front, performers for the summer events at Granit square, repairs to bike paths and new trash cans.

People aged 12 and older can vote

In participatory budgeting, all persons aged 12 and older registered in the city of Riihimäki have the right to vote. The participation platform requires electronic login with bank credentials or a mobile certificate. Pupils of schools in Riihimäkä can use their MPASSid IDs.

Guidance on using the participation platform can be obtained from the library if needed.

Proposals that received at least 10 votes were allowed to continue

In autumn, a total of 75 proposals were received from citizens for participatory budgeting, of which 38 were found to not be put to a vote in the evaluation. Most of the rejected proposals did not meet the rules of participatory budgeting or did not receive the support of 10 people required for the voting stage.

100 euros will be used for participatory budgeting

In participatory budgeting, the people of Riihimäki influence how the public funds available to the city are used. Inclusion is one of the central themes of the strategy of the city of Riihimäki. One million euros have been set aside for participatory budgeting, of which 100 euros are used annually.

The results of the participatory budgeting vote, i.e. the items to be implemented this year, will be published at the beginning of February.
