Vote for furniture for the new playground in Hännintie

The City of Riihimäki invites residents to participate in a vote to select furniture for the new Hännintie playground. Voting for the furniture will begin on Friday, October 31 and end on November 16, 2025.

The playground will be located in the Räätykänmäki district. There is currently a sand field on the site. The Hännintie playground will replace the Härkätie playground in Räätykänmäki in accordance with the playground program of the City of Riihimäki.

Voting on three different options

The City of Riihimäki has put out a tender for the furniture for the Hännintie playground. Three proposals were received within the deadline and they have been put to a vote in random order. The solution with the most votes will be chosen as the supplier for the furniture procurement for the Hännintie playground.

All companies participating in the competition have been asked to provide at least the following furniture: double rope course, football goals, exercise equipment, swing(s), fixed benches, waste bins and bike racks. In addition, other equipment for children of different ages was requested. The theme of the playground was chosen as the countryside. The ceiling price for the whole project has been set at 30,000 euros in the call for tenders. The construction schedule will be decided at a later stage.

6th graders and older can vote.

Voting takes place using the familiar participatory budgeting On the Riihimäki participation platform (osallistu.riihimaki.fi). All adults living in Riihimäki can participate in the vote with strong identification, as well as all children and young people in 6th grade and older from Riihimäki with their student mPassID. Each participant can only vote for one proposal.

The project was based on a survey conducted in the summer of 2025, which consulted with the residents of the area. The children's parliament of the city of Riihimäki and students from Herajoki School also participated in the preliminary planning of the park in the spring of 2024.
