Private early childhood education

There are two private daycare centers in Riihimäki. There are also private family daycare centers working in their own homes in different parts of the city. You can inquire about private daycare places directly from the service provider or centrally from the early childhood education service guidance.

When you choose a private service for your child, you can apply for private care support paid by Kela and municipal supplement for private care paid by the city of Riihimäki. You can find more information about the conditions and application for private care support on Kela's website.

The municipal supplement for private care is paid when the early childhood education is provided by a private service provider (home care provider, private family daycare provider or private daycare center) and Kela has made a positive decision on the private care subsidy. It is also required that the service is used for more than 25 hours a week. The municipal supplement for private care subsidy will not apply to children of preschool age as of 1 August 2026.

The following municipal supplements for private care will be paid to the care provider through Kela as of March 1.8.2026, XNUMX:
- €340 per month when the child is in private group family daycare, family daycare or the child has a caregiver at home
- €740 per month when a child under the age of 3 is in a private kindergarten
- €460 per month when a child over 3 years old is in a private kindergarten
