Instructions for appealing early childhood education decisions

A service decision is made for the family about enrolling the child in early childhood education and a payment decision is made for the customer fee for early childhood education. The family has the right to appeal against these decisions in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act.

The family has the right to appeal against the preschool education decision according to the Basic Education Act.

Reminder

A child's parent or other guardian who is not satisfied with the quality of early childhood education or the related treatment has the right to make a reminder to the daycare manager responsible for the activities, the person in charge of the site or the head of early childhood education. As a rule, the reminder must be made in writing. The reminder can also be given verbally for a special reason.

Rectification claim

  • If you are dissatisfied with the early childhood education decision you received, you can apply for a correction to it from the cultural and welfare board of the city of Riihimäki. Submit the request for correction to the early childhood education office of the city of Riihimäki, where it will be assessed whether it is possible to correct the decision according to your request.

    If the early childhood education office does not correct the decision that is the subject of a correction request with a new decision, the early childhood education office submits the request to the education and welfare board of the city of Riihimäki.

    You can submit the correction request by post or bring it to the early childhood education office. If you want to make sure that the rectification claim has arrived, request an acknowledgment of the rectification claim's arrival from the early childhood education office.

    By what date must the rectification claim be made?

    The rectification request must arrive at the early childhood education office of the city of Riihimäki within 30 days after you have been informed of the decision. You are considered to have received information about the decision no later than the seventh day after the decision has been mailed to the address you provided.
