Open early childhood education

Open early childhood education is organized in Aapeli-Avoin of the Junailijanjakatu daycare. Open early childhood education is a planned and goal-oriented activity and it is based on an early childhood education plan. The forms of open early childhood education are paid clubs and free open daycare. There are no activities during the autumn, Christmas, winter and summer school holidays.

Open daycare Aapeli-Avoin

An open daycare is one form of open early childhood education. It will be held in Aapeli-Avoin, which is located on the third floor of the Kalle-Päätalo building of the Junailijankatu daycare (Junailijankatu 14). The entrance to Aapeli is on the side of the yard next to the pen gate. You can leave prams and strollers under the canopy opposite the main doors.

The operating hours of Aapeli-Avoin are:

  • Tuesday from 9 am to 14 pm
  • Friday from 9 am to 12 pm.

The open daycare offers parents the opportunity to talk with other parents and employees. At the same time, children have the opportunity to play with other children. In addition to discussions and games, the activities of the open daycare include guided activities that are organized together with children, parents and various partners. The basis for planning the activities is the ideas, thoughts and needs of the children and parents. Participation in the activity is voluntary.

You can come to the open daycare according to your own schedule. Participation in the activity is free of charge. In an open daycare, children are always under the responsibility and supervision of their parents.

During the open daycare, parents have the opportunity to enjoy coffee and tea and to make something for a small fee. There are also dishes for storing and heating your own food, a refrigerator and a microwave oven.

  • In Aapeli-Avoime, there are always toys, games, craft materials, modeling wax and various nursery rhyme and task baskets and books that can be freely used together with the child. We do crafts, children have playmates and adults have coffee and peer support.

  • The play club for children aged 3–5 is on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Junailijankatu kindergarten, Aapeli-open premises, Junailijankatu 14. The morning group meets from 9 am to 12 pm and the afternoon group from 13 pm to 16 pm. Each club group has a maximum of 13 children and a nanny. A lot of time is reserved for play in clubs. In the clubs, we consider the ideas, thoughts and needs of children and parents important, because we plan activities based on them.

Activities include crafts, painting, singing, playing, reading, playing and gymnastics. Along with play, we practice emotional and interaction skills. The clubs operate from August to May. Clubs are closed during school holidays.

    Club fee

For supervised club activities, we charge a fixed monthly fee of €44,90/month if the child attends the club twice a week, and €22,45/month if the child attends once a week. You can apply for a payment exemption.

    Applying to clubs

You can apply to the clubs by logging into the eDaisy link on this page, filling out the early childhood education application there. You can choose club activities as the area and Aapeli Avoin as the place. Please indicate the number of club days in the service requirement section.

The application is valid until the child gets a place or the application is cancelled. You can apply to play clubs all year round. If the club groups are full, we put the application in the queue. We allocate club places to new children in the order in which applications are received. We will inform you about the club place in writing or by phone. If you do not receive a response within two weeks of sending, call and confirm the situation with Aapel.

  • The baby group, which meets on Fridays from 12 to 14 pm in Aapeli-Avoime, is a postpartum group in which mothers and their babies can participate. The group is intended especially for first-time mothers and babies should be under 12 months old.

The group is a free-form discussion group. The purpose is that parents get to share experiences together with other parents about everyday life with a baby and gain new insights into coping with everyday life. The purpose of the group is also to introduce parents to each other and to give the opportunity to create a network with those in the same life situation.

  • The activities of Aapeli-Avoime emphasize the participation of children and parents, their own active role with their own child and other families, and play. In the work with families, the main focus is on supporting parenting. Parents have the opportunity in general, in groups or individually to have discussions about child care and upbringing, everyday life at home and managing daily routines.

The goal of the activity is to strengthen the family's ability to function, support interaction skills, expand social networks and prevent marginalization.

  • Aapeli-Avoime's activities include clubs, an open daycare center, a baby group, various parent-led groups such as the Mannerheim Children's Welfare Association family cafe and the Soft Values family cafe, as well as various parenting groups (for example, Child in mind and Strength in parenting), which you register for separately.

Common operating principles of the open daycare center

    • Let's be together, let's do it together.
    • Let's take care of the children together, the responsibility for the child always lies with one's own parent.
    • Adults help children to ensure peace in the play.
    • Finally, let's put away the toys and games.
    • We will come to Aapeli healthy.
    • The operating hours of the groups are observed.
  • We organize summer playground activities for children from 2 to 10 years old in the yard of the Junailijanjakatu kindergarten. The playground operates in the yard of Ville-Viipale (yellow wooden building) in a separately fenced area. Play activities are free of charge.

The playground opens on Tuesday, June 4.6.2024, 9 at 4 a.m. We organize activities on weekdays between June 27.6.2024 and June 9, 15, between 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. There is no activity on Midsummer's Eve. Children are allowed to be present on the field for 8 hours/day. The activity is designed for XNUMX-XNUMX year olds, but even older children can join if they wish.

Recommended activity times for age groups are:

    • from 9 to 11 a.m. for 2- to 8-year-olds
    • from 11 to 15 a.m. for 3- to 8-year-olds

Sign up for the play activity when you come and leave each day separately, we will mark the children on the visitor list. Children come and leave the playground always accompanied by an adult. On the first visit, the adult who brought the child fills in the contact information form for each child participating in the activity at the registration point.

We take about 30 children to the field at a time. It is good to prepare the child in advance for the fact that it may not be possible to go to the field right away, but will come again later.
