Art education

Visual art techniques are studied in a versatile and long-term way. The teaching includes traditional picture-making by drawing, painting and sculpting. At a later stage of the studies, the teaching also includes photography, graphics, ceramics and 3D design.

In basic art education, visual art's task is to support the student's growth, self-knowledge, identity building and cultural competence through the means of visual art. Teaching strengthens the student's experience of himself as an active participant in visual culture and as a responsible member of the community. The studies develop the skills of visual observation, thinking, expression, interpretation and appreciation.
